December (Kinda) Hiking Club

  • Lawson Creek Forestry Heritage Walk 1601 Pinecrest Drive West Vancouver, BC, V7S 3H2 Canada (map)

Close out the season with a peaceful forest hike on the Lawson Creek Forestry Heritage Walk — a hidden gem tucked away in West Vancouver. This 4.2 km loop has 303 m of elevation gain and winds through lush, mossy woodland. The trail features several small bridges, creek views, and remnants of logging history, including the Shields Log Dam and Flume Pond.

This route is short but steep in sections and can be icy or muddy in late fall — so wear sturdy footwear and bring traction (microspikes recommended if conditions are slick). It’s a quiet trail with lots of forest cover, making it a lovely retreat before the holidays.

We’ll meet at 11:00 a.m. at Shields Dam Park (top of Pinecrest Drive). It is mostly street parking, so car pooling is recommended.

All are welcome — this is a great trail for anyone looking for a shorter hike with a bit of elevation, especially those who enjoy peaceful forest settings.
